Bracknell Chess Club EJCOA Zonal Tournament March 22nd 2026
Bracknell Chess Club held a junior chess tournament at the Hanworth Community Centre on the 22 nd March 2026. It is with much regret, that the tournament hall was double booked with a prayer group, something that was discovered only on the morning of the event. As a consequence, there was no break-out room for parents and children (when not playing).
The tournament hall had to be used for both the tournament and break-out area which led to some noise and disruption for players. We thank the parents and children who took part for their co-operation, understanding and patience; for ensuring the disruption was kept to an absolute minimum
We regret that playing conditions were not ideal, but there is no doubt that it was the right decision to continue with the tournament rather than send all entrants away. We have received a number of positive comments (one negative) from parents for the organisation of the tournament. We are assured by the Hanworth Community Centre that double booking will not occur for future tournaments.
Thirty-one juniors signed up to take part in the EJCOA zonal for under – 8, under – 10 and under -12 categories.
The results of the tournament are given below.
